Hit record and do a short test run on your DAW. As for the second source of audio, simply have your software to record system audio as well. In the audio setup, you want to have a microphone audio source in which I selected the input 1 of my audio interface. I’m using Camtasia Recorder as my screencasting software but you can use almost any screencasting software that records system audio. The first output is your audio interface and the second output is Windows Audio. So essentially right now you have your ASIO output routed into TWO outputs. In the master output track, you want to set A1 routed to your hardware audio interface (the komplete audio 6 in my case) and have A2 routed to Windows Audio (which in my case was, ‘Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio’ ). It’s possible to boost the volume, add some equalizing, and even play around with the panning. The third track, Virtual Audio, is the output signal of your ASIO driver routed virtually into Voice Meeter. Then in Voicemeeter app, select the microphone as your input. I had my microphone plugged into input 1 on my audio interface. In hardware input 1, you can have your microphone input here. Next, you want to set the routings in Voice Meeter. Here’s how to do it: Step 1 – Install Voicemeeter Use your screencasting software to record system audio and you’ll get your DAW’s playback. Voicemeeter allows you to route ASIO into WDM Driver. The best FREE method that worked for me when recording DAW tutorials on Windows. The Third (Winning) Method – Screencasting With Voicemeeter A FREE solution, with a nice user interface and is in fact a lot easier to set up and use. Not a too hefty price to be able to screencast DAW tutorials I thought. The user interface isn’t pretty and Odeus will set you back 24.95AUD. Having successfully done that, your screencasting software will be able to record your DAW outputs. In the Odeus application, enable the left and right channel in ‘ASIO Output to Stereo Mix’ and you should have your ASIO output routed into your system audio. Upon installing Odeus, simply select Odeus as your audio device in your DAW. Odeus was built to allow you to use your ASIO driver in more than one application. That means if you have ASIO4all as your output in your DAW, you won’t be able to hear any sound from other programs. On Windows, using ASIO4all as an audio driver on your DAW means giving all exclusivity to that one software program. Odeus was built for a simple reason – to use ASIO devices on multiple softwares at the same time. The interface can be confusing if you didn’t read the manual and jumped right into the application, like most of us do. I struggled with Odeus for a bit before having it to work. The Second Method – Use Odeus ASIO Link To Route ASIO A 64-bit wav recorder plugin that I found worked on my 64-bit DAW is the MRecorder by Melda Production. I found the plugin to have complications when running it in Cubase 64-bit. And by the way, Voxengo Recorder is a 32-bit plugin that will only work on 32-bit DAW. This method of recording my DAW however felt a little tedious to me. ![]() You’re done! A great-sounding screencasting with two audio channels. Upon finishing recording your screencast, you then use a video editor to combine the wav file which is outputted from Voxengo Recorder. Just make sure that you are recording your microphone signal on your screencasting software. ![]() The plugin will output a wav file to a chosen folder on your computer. Leave the plugin recording and anything you play on your DAW while you screencast will be recorded by the plugin. What the plugin does is it will record anything that goes through your DAW output. This method requires you to download a plugin called Voxengo Recorder. The First Method – Recording Your DAW’s Output Actually, there are few ways you can screencast your DAW on Windows, so let me explain. This method of screencasting your DAW on Windows is also free. At this point, I almost regretted switching from the Mac to PC.īeing a stubborn person I searched high and low for a solution to this problem and I finally found a method that works best for me. It’s not going to give you a low latency performance on your DAW. ![]() Screencasting software like Camtasia, Microsoft Expression, or BBFlashback only records your system audio, which happens to be the crappy windows audio driver. There is NO screencasting software on Windows that can record ASIO right from your DAW. I finally found a way to record screencast my DAW on Windows with ASIO. ![]() However, recording a DAW screencast on Windows DAW is a nightmare. Making a screencast of your DAW on a Mac is pretty easy. ![]() Often, we have producers requesting to remodel characters and models that were approved previously. It's easy to accept the large quantity of models in the boardroom, when budgets are being approved, as it's only theory at that point, but someone needs to be realistic. ![]() If producers insist on not putting limits on this, they are probably going to have the episodes delivered late, no matter what any CG house tells them up front. Writers must understand these limitations with CG animation upfront. An unrestrained quantity of character and set models is often the case with "failed" productions. The hurdle of too many scenes per episode, and too many scene retakes, will cripple a CGI production. Producers and directors not heeding the limitations of CGI. To develop a realistic look that is maintainable is one thing, but when one combines this difficulty with some of the other pitfalls it becomes impossible. If it doesn't make good financial and practical sense to produce a realistically animated 2D production for television (can you name one?), then it probably doesn't make sense in 3D production. People complain about the "weird" look the characters sometimes have. It's a burnout for your animation crew to produce overly realistic scenes while on a TV animation schedule. ![]() Kids don't necessarily prefer it, and they are the intended audience. Why not, you ask? There have been very few realistic CGI TV shows that have been produced on time, so there's some history to think about. This points to producers' preference for realism in CG television, and although the technology might arguably be available, it is not always practical to produce realistic CG TV animation at this time. The Producer's insistence on extreme realism, rather than a stylization of the characters and sets. Stylized sets and characters were hallmarks of the late series Voltron: The Third Dimension, on which Josh Prikryl was a supervising animator. Here are four areas of how some TV animation producers have gotten into trouble with CGI animation for TV and ended up in or close to that cartoon graveyard. Having supervised two all CG animated TV series that were both completed on time (52 half-hour episodes), I would like to share with you my opinions some of what I believe works for CGI television production and what does not. I have 10 years of production experience in the animation industry, and have signature approved close to 20,000 scenes as an animation supervisor. ![]() It was also my first experience working overseas, at DCDC, in Hong Kong. We completed 26 episodes of this all CG animated TV series on time and on budget. Most recently I was CG animation director on Butt-Ugly Martians, which is currently airing, or is soon to air, in most territories worldwide. This gives you an idea about how small the CGI for television animation community is. I have worked on most of the "all CG" animated TV shows that ever saw airtime and were produced in the United States. If CGI is to thrive as a commercial viability for television over the next few years, we must try to ensure that it will be as predictable as 2D animation production. In general a feeling of overall predictability has eluded the producers who need to have control over what should be no more complicated than the 2D animation process. A number (but not all) of CGI series have been delivered late, gone over budget and been difficult to control creatively. CGI is now sometimes seen as an undependable and dangerous investment. Producers of TV animation, who only a few years ago were thrilled at the possibilities of CG production, now want to avoid what has become a cliché. The term 'tra-digital' comes to mind when I think of CGI productions that use 2D methodology and planning. It is mostly a 2D art form, but recently we've seen both some exciting, and not so exciting, forays into CGI animation for TV. TV animation is sometimes thought of as being the ultimate in disposable entertainment. © 2001 Universal Worldwide Television, Inc., Just Group PLC, Mike Young Productions, Inc., DCDC Limited Butt-Ugly Martians: an all-CG show delivered on time and on budget. As for the iTunes songs, if you have downloaded the songs, you should be able to show the file in Finder from iTunes, and then open the file in Sound Studio. I don’t recall doing anything more than sliding my iTunes on to the Sound Studio app, without redirecting them to my mic-I certainly wouldn’t want to re-record commercially recorded music on a microphone. Possibly an Apple program (or errant app) is prioritizing and nullifying my needs. Lately, or after Apple’s most recent update (possibly no relation to problem), I can’t seem to make Sound Studio see the songs from iTunes that I want to burn (in addition to my spoken commentary from a Blue microphone). Since Starfield and The Elder Scrolls 6 are on the horizon, it's still unlikely fans will hear about the next Fallout game for at least a few more years. Even so, future Bethesda Game Studios titles could potentially have multiplayer components and the Fallout franchise as a whole is in a much better place. It also creates a valid concern about whether gamers will lose their progress forever once servers shut down. However, the game is still online-only, so this approach is still a turn-off for many hardcore Fallout fans. Since the Wastelanders update seemingly allowed the developers to step back into familiar territory, players have continued to come back and stay with each new update. One of its earlier updates, Wastelanders, was potentially its most significant, as it added human NPCs to interact with, along with companions and improved quest designs. The problems didn't stop at the game itself either, as the Collector's Edition had its own slew of controversies with cheap materials and misleading marketing.Įven with all the controversy and problems at launch, Bethesda Game Studios somehow turned Fallout 76 around. This would prove to be a massive disappointment for Fallout fans since they felt such a major component of all the previous games was no longer present.
